March Sketchbook

Hi everyone,

I hope you're well and staying safe.

I've been so inspired lately by artists I follow. For months now, I've been wanting to get back into my art but I have been too scared to. I continuously compare myself when I know I shouldn't - everyone is different, I know & preach this! In the end (after a few really dud doodles), I'm pretty chuffed with what I've done so far. I've taken inspiration from flowers (due to their beautiful colours) and I have used Pinterest for images of animals to sketch. Being happy with my work so far has really spurred me on to do more and more. Even small amounts during breaks at work.. I have no idea where all of this has come from but I hope it's here to stay! I want to create more and more to share with you guys and create a nice community here.

Fingers crossed (!!!) that I continue it to develop my skills, create more content, and do something I love for you all in this little corner of the world. For years now I've tried to do various posts on my blog and I decided a while ago that I need to stay true to what I enjoy and what inspires me (which honestly is a little bit of everything!) and I hope you guys all enjoy too!

From art to spirituality, from makeup to reading - there'll be plenty to choose from here, I'm sure!

Stop me from rambling.. Below, I have my sketchbook journey so far, just a couple of images to show my growth in a few days. Feel free to giggle at the shocking, childlike attempts I started with. I'm so happy to see my growth in the short period of time and work on my strengths.

I mean - what did I think I was doing here?! 

I mean - there are a few which I haven't shared but that's to save my embarrassment! They were just too bad!! Here's to continuing my motivation and I'll keep up with you guys on how I get on.

Moving Home

Hi everyone,

I hope you're well!

Long time no inspiration but here we go again! I have an update and hopefully this will then become a little series..

I'm jumping on that property ladder this year and buying my own home with my other half. I'm far more excited than I could ever imagine, I tell you. It's been non-stop Pinterest searching from the moment we put the offer down.

Everything is taking it's time but running fairly smoothly I'd say. Everyone has been super helpful to us; we have a few bits and pieces already filling our current homes. I never knew I'd be so excited about crockery!

We have planned to decorate each room, to put our personal touch on the place. It's going to be so cosy and welcoming to us and any guest we invite along. I'm doing as much reading I can, (look out for my booklist post coming soon!), so that I can create a peaceful and loving environment with a little bit of magic.

Like I mentioned, I will probably do a mini series on here about each room. Inspiration, colours, themes, etc. We have a million and one ideas going through our heads so I'm excited to have the end result soon.

It's a cute and cosy home with enough space for me and the other half. We're honestly obsessed and talk about it non-stop.

If you want to follow me on Pinterest to have a sneak peak at our ideas then I'll pop a link below for you guys! I love looking at home improvements and house inspiration around the web; so, I'm hoping to create a little bit of sunshine and creativeness in my corner of the world.

Whilst waiting for the big move, I'm hoping to continue with my creative streak. I'm proper back into my art again, which is amazing. I'm also doing cross stitch and other creative bits to keep my mind at ease.

I'm also trying, (as you can see in this post) to get back into blogging and my social space. In this time of confusion and mild panic, it's fab to have a space where I can stay positive, creative and motivated. That's something I will continue (hopefully!) to do, as I sure love being creative in more ways than one.

Hello 2020 !!

Holy Smokes.. what a gap it’s been in between posts.

I do get super into posting then go off on one weeks later. Does that happen to you? When I've got that surge of creativity I set myself for too much! I believe an audience enjoys content when it is stress free. (I do anyway!)

I’m not sure what’s gone on in the past few weeks but I’ve received a few follows on this little blog - thank you so much if you have! I do appreciate it. Really I do!

It was one of my intentions in 2020 to start up my content again. Both here, on YouTube and other sites I enjoy like Patreon. It’s not a resolution. I don’t believe they work for me.. I need to do things in my own time, as I’m sure many of you will agree. If I set myself small targets each month I will more than likely be able to achieve them.

I want to post different content on different pages. But keep the same running theme of love, magic and sparkle. That’s all I need in the world!

Welcome to my little corner! Let’s see how well I do this time with posting, ey! I’m not committing to anything; I’m not going to force anything as I know it will happen organically. That’s the easiest way! I'm going to brainstorm ideas and put time aside to be creative and do my own thing. I think that's super important.

I hope you all had fabulous New Years and 2020 has been kind to you so far - I know it has to me! This is the year of amazing changes for me, I'm so excited you wouldn't believe. I have set personal intentions to help me grow inside and out.

It's the Wolf Moon on Friday. I'm going to set time aside to review my intentions and reflect on the month so far. This Moon in Cancer encourages us to delve into plenty of self-care as well as looking after those around us. There's plenty of information out there if you want to take a read up on the Wolf Moon.

(Some 2019 moments):

Glitter Haul

100% the best haul I could possibly do.

Looking through the cruelty free makeup of Primark I found myself in the glitter section.. No shock that I ended up there!

I have been trying to be more environmentally aware with my glitter and found that Primark had a whole section of biodegradable loose glitter!

Super super chuffed with what I got in the end. Two fave gem packs, a gold and silver glitter pack and unicorn goo glitter balm. Not gonna lie to you guys, I did mainly get this product because of the name..

The face gems are really a one time wear situation - I am looking into something I could reuse again and again alongside my glitter!

Cheap and cheerful haul all coming to £11.

I hope you enjoyed this mini haul - I definitely meant to upload it around a month ago, but what can you do! If you have any sustainable/ eco-friendly shops to look at, please let me know! I am on the less-single-use plastic after being inspired last month. I understand These products above have single use plastic, but this is a journey a am just starting! Any advice you have please drop a comment.

Midsummer in Amsterdam

Last week I had the pleasure of celebrating Midsommar in Amsterdam with one of my favourite people!

It was as dreamy as I had planned. The weather, the food, the flowers and the company wherefore than I could ever ask for.

Midsommar is a Swedish celebration of the longest day in the year. Summer Solstice to many of us.

I celebrated a couple of years back and it was immediately my favourite holiday. It's beautiful with fresh flower crowns, lots of fish and strawberries.

On the morning we went to the grocery store to buy lots of yummy food, mainly fish, dill, yoghurt and strawberries. These are the main flavours of Midsommar.

The morning is one of my favourite times of the day, we make the traditional food and prepare ourselves for the rest of the day.

We made Laxtårta, a traditional salmon cake with a bread base, and we made skagenröra, well a take on the mayonnaise that goes on top of boiled eggs.

Everything was so so delicious I can't even tell you.

So fresh, so summery, so Swedish.

The pictures below do not do the food justice as we had so much colour and varieties of food!

After making all the food we of course got all glittered up. Primark is amazing for their makeup range, not only is it cruelty free, some of the glitter is now biodegradable which is fab. Especially for someone like me who wears glitter to bed!

I created a pink fairy look with lots of glitter and a face gem from Primark which lasted the entire day (and night!) I was super happy with the look I created.

The night before Midsommar, we picked flowers from the local park. Beautiful blue and pink windflowers which we made into flower crowns by wrapping them around wire. We also bought amazing roses and white wild flowers (excuse me for forgetting the name..) to wrap around the crowns also. They were amazing, rustic and everyone looked so beautiful in them! I was so happy with how they turned out.

After all the celebrations I was so tired the next day, we chilled on the balcony and enjoyed the lovely weather.

My final full day we went to the beach - we went to Zandvoort aan Zee. It was so chill it was lovely. Although I hate sand and, worse, wet sand, I still enjoyed it just chilling in the sun. (I 100% chilled in the shade as I burn like a crisp if not!)

What a holiday! I'm still feeling the blues. I hope you all celebrated the Summer Solstice in your own special ways and enjoyed it thoroughly!

2019 Reading List

Half way through the year and it's safe to say I've struggled with my reading so far in 2019.

But I've set myself a very achievable reading list. Only four to dig my teeth into and really enjoy. I think that is so much better than making a gigantic pile which becomes overwhelming.

Two of these are plays which I am super excited to read. Both Arthur Miller and both classics.

Secret: I was meant to read The Crucible at uni.. But never did! I don't honestly know why as it is a play that's right up my street.

Sunburn, I got on an offer. It was recommended to me by someone also looking at the section. A thriller I need to get into as I've struggled picking this one up so far. Maybe I need to start with something I've read before to get me in the reading mood?

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. It is safe to say I don't know much about this one. I have saved it from being given away. The title itself just draws me in. I have looked at this cover a few times wanting to read it. Now is the time to.

I'll let you know how I get on with each of them. I'm hoping it won't take me long to get back into reading. Sometimes I get too easily distracted, so I need to make a comfy little reading spot for myself.

Crystal Collection #4

Another couple of crystals to add to my growing collection.

The natural colours of Tiger's Eye give me a sense of grounding and the sparkle of Amethyst gives me strength.

I have been meaning to add these to my collection for a long time and finally I have some beautiful pieces in my space.

Golden Tiger's Eye

Golden Tiger's Eye is an amazing grounding crystal which attracts good luck and protects against negative energies. By cleaning negative energies, Tiger's Eye allows peoples lives to bloom and feel more active.

I keep Tiger's Eye by my side as from research it is a calming stone for Virgo's. As a Virgo I am very aware of those crystals that call out to me. Tiger's Eye is definitely one of them.

I have read recommendations to keep Tiger's Eye with Amethyst to balance the energy. I thought it was perfect that I got them at the same time.

Amethyst

Amethyst is an essential crystal to have in ones collection. It's cleansing for the aura. Enhance love, peace and calm. Protects against bad energies. Amethyst comes in so many beautiful shapes and sizes. I got these two raw pieces for my collection as I do not have the room for larger crystals.

I keep one piece by my bedside to help me sleep, to protect me and strengthen my connection with all things magical.

Amethyst is truly special.
